Lt. Col. Swift has been a member of the department since 1990. He was appointed as the Assistant Chief of Services in September 2017. He is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating department activities and is responsible for the supervision of police and civilian personnel.

Lt. Col. Swift graduated from Covington Latin High School. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Thomas More College and his Master’s Degree in Justice Administration from the University of Louisville.

Lt. Col. Swift is a graduate of the 109th session of the Southern Police Institute’s Administrative Officers Course (SPI-AOC). He  is also a graduate of the 2nd session of the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training’s Criminal Justice Executive Development Course. He is also a Certified Law Enforcement Supervisor, Manager, and Executive through the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. Lt. Col. Swift served on the executive board of the Southern Police Institute’s Alumni Board from 2008-2012, including one year as president. He also served on the Executive Board of the Parish Kitchen from 2011-2014.

Lt. Col. Swift has been previously assigned as Patrol Bureau Commander, Administration Bureau Commander, Criminal Investigations Bureau Commander and Accreditation Manager.
