Covington Residents Will Notice Changes to Annual Tax Bills

Posted By

COVINGTON, KY – Covington residents receiving their annual tax bills this week should be aware of some changes from previous years.

As in the past, the statements include annual property taxes. Also included this year, are six months of waste and recycling services fees for the period of July 1, 2015, through December 31, 2015.

In March of this year, the City billed residents for six months of waste and recycling services fees covering the period of January 1, 2015, through June 30, 2015. The two billing cycles are due to a change in waste and recycling service providers.

In July of this year, the City changed its provider of waste and recycling services to Rumpke. Since then Rumpke has been working with the City to replace waste receptacles and to improve pickup efficiency. Waste fees will be billed at the annual rate of $150 on future tax bills.

Another change residents will notice is this year’s real property tax rate of 0.3130 per $100 and personal property tax rate of 0.3332 per $100. These rates were adopted by the City of Covington Board of Commissioners on August 25, 2015.

Payments are due by 4:30 p.m. on October 15. Late payments will be subject to penalties and interest. Residents are encouraged to pay their tax bills online by visiting the City’s website at covingtonkytax.com

Residents with questions should contact the Covington Finance Department at 859-292-2180 or 859-292-2181. Offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
