City of Covington to Celebrate New Permanent Restroom at Barb Cook Park

COVINGTON, Ky. — The City of Covington will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the addition of a new permanent restroom building at Barb Cook Park in Latonia.

The ribbon-cutting will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 3:30 p.m. at Barb Cook Park (2709 Ashland Ave, Covington). Members of the City’s administration, Parks & Recreation Division, and Public Works Department will be on hand for the event.

The new prefabricated restroom building fills the need for high-quality restrooms at the park, providing visitors with a more convenient and reliable facility while enhancing the overall experience for those who use Barb Cook Park.

“Investments in our parks are investments in our neighborhoods and the people who call Covington home,” Mayor Ron Washington said. “This new restroom will make Barb Cook Park more convenient and enjoyable for the residents and families who use the park.”  The park improvement project was first approved in March 2026 and funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

Decisions about improvements to Covington’s parks are guided in part by the City’s Parks Master Plan, which was developed through extensive community outreach to better understand residents’ needs and priorities.

The City invites media outlets and community members to join City staff at Barb Cook Park on Oct. 14 to celebrate the completion of the new facility.
