Urban Forestry Division invites public to explore Covington’s Westside on guided tree walk

COVINGTON, Ky. – The City of Covington’s Urban Forestry Division invites residents and visitors to get outside and explore the city’s urban forest during a guided Tree Walk through Covington’s Westside neighborhood.

The free event will take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in celebration of Tree Week in Kentucky. Participants will meet at The Center for Great Neighborhoods, 321 W. MLK/12th St., at 1 p.m., where the guided walk will begin with City of Covington Urban Forester Patrick Moore.

Participants will make their way through the Westside neighborhood while learning how to identify different tree species and exploring the important role trees play in an urban environment.

Along the way, Moore will discuss the many benefits trees provide to neighborhoods and residents, while sharing forestry and horticulture insights that can help participants better understand the trees growing throughout Covington.

The event is designed to be both educational and accessible, offering residents and visitors a chance to enjoy the outdoors, get some light exercise, and see the Westside neighborhood from a different perspective. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes.

The Tree Walk is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. Those interested in attending can mark themselves as “Going” on the Westside Tree Walk Facebook event.

The Tree Walk is organized by the Covington Urban Forestry Board and the City of Covington’s Urban Forestry Division.
