COVINGTON, Ky. – The Covington Police Department welcomed its two newest officers this week as Aryn Boyd and Olivia Nixon were sworn in during a ceremony at City Hall. 

Mayor Ron Washington administered the oath of office to Boyd and Nixon as they officially joined the Covington Police Department. The ceremony was attended by members of their families as well as members of the Department’s leadership. 

Boyd, a resident of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Psychology. 

Nixon, a resident of North Bend, Ohio, is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Psychology at the University of Cincinnati. 

Both officers will now begin the Basic Training Academy hosted by the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond. The comprehensive program includes weeks of online, in-house, and extensive in-person instruction. 

Following graduation from the academy, Boyd and Nixon will begin the Covington Police Department’s 20-week Field Training Program. During the program, they will gain hands-on experience while working alongside veteran Covington officers. 

The City welcomes Boyd and Nixon to the Covington Police Department and looks forward to their work in helping keep the community safe.
