Proposed project would bring 57 jobs and redevelopment of former Keller Logistics site
COVINGTON, Ky. – Innovative Opening Solutions (IOS), a Norwood-based company, is considering relocating its headquarters to Covington as it continues to grow, a move that would bring 57 jobs and a $6 million investment to the Latonia neighborhood.
IOS specializes in commercial door and hardware, and access control solutions. The company is looking to purchase the southern portion of 4293 Winston Ave., comprising a 96,950-square-foot facility most recently occupied by Keller Logistics.
If completed, the project would create 57 jobs with an average annual salary of approximately $80,300, generating an estimated $4.7 million in additional payroll by the third year. The investment would also put a large, vacant commercial property back into productive use in Latonia, an area the City has targeted for redevelopment.
“IOS is exactly the type of growing company we want to see investing in Covington,” Mayor Ron Washington said. “This project would bring good-paying jobs, significant private investment, and new activity to a property in Latonia that has been waiting for its next chapter."
As part of the proposed project, IOS would make landscape improvements to the property to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the parking lot. The company would also make a good-faith commitment to participate in Covington Independent Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program, creating a potential connection between local students and career opportunities.
To help move the project forward, the City’s Economic Development Division has recommended an Industrial Revenue Bond (IRB) for a 15-year term. The project would provide a 10-to-1 return on investment for the City.
“IOS’s potential relocation demonstrates the kind of redevelopment opportunity we are working to attract to Latonia,” the City's Economic Development Director, John Sadosky, said. "We’re excited about what this could mean for the neighborhood and for Covington’s continued economic growth.”
If the project moves forward, IOS would begin the build-out process by the end of 2026, with the company targeting a move into the facility by the end of 2027.
