COVINGTON, Ky. — On Aug. 1, two Amazon employees were in the right place at the right time when their quick actions likely helped save a Covington woman’s life. 

Eric Bunzow and Shawn Beam were at work when they witnessed a woman suddenly lose consciousness. The two immediately called 911 and stayed with her until Covington EMS crews arrived. 

One of the City’s ambulances responded to the scene, and EMS crews quickly began providing care. The woman was transported to University of Cincinnati Hospital for additional treatment, where she was found to have a life-threatening medical condition. 

Thanks to the actions of Eric and Shawn, help was on the way when she needed it most. Their decision to call 911 and remain on the scene until first responders arrived may have made the difference between life and death. 

But the story didn’t end there. 

After finishing their shifts, Eric and Shawn went to the hospital to check on the woman to see how she was doing. Their concern for someone they had only just encountered that day was another example of the compassion and kindness that can make a profound difference in a difficult moment. 

The woman’s son had the opportunity to meet the two men who helped his mother. 

The City of Covington is grateful to Eric Bunzow and Shawn Beam for recognizing an emergency and taking immediate action to get help. Their actions are a powerful reminder that calling 911 and being willing to help can save a life.
