COVINGTON, Ky — The City of Covington is continuing its cleanup and recovery efforts following Tuesday’s severe weather. This page includes information for residents who need storm-related assistance, debris removal information, or help connecting with community resources.
Need Storm-Related Assistance?
Residents who need storm-related assistance or resources can contact the City’s central assistance line at 859-292-2193.
You can also submit your contact information and describe the assistance you need through the City’s online assistance form. City staff will review your request and respond.
Community Resources
The following organizations can help residents affected by the storm:
- United Way 211: Dial 211 to be connected with community resources based on your ZIP code.
- Be Concerned: 859-291-6789 for food assistance.
- Northern Kentucky Community Action Coalition: 859-581-6607 for rent and utility assistance and information about SNAP benefits.
- Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky: 859-291-4555 for emergency shelter assistance.
Tree Debris Drop-Off
To help residents with storm cleanup, the City is providing four temporary locations where tree debris only can be dropped off through Aug. 19:
- Austinburg Neighborhood Park, 502-16 E. 15th St.
- Bill Cappel Sports Complex – Lower Soccer Field, 4305 Decoursey Ave.
- Hands Pike Park, 1200 Hands Pike
- Public Works Barn at Devou Park, 1625 Montague Rd.
Please follow signage at each location to find the designated drop-off area.
These locations will accept tree debris only.
Reporting Storm Debris for Removal
Residents should place storm-related tree debris between the sidewalk and the road and call the City’s Public Works Department at 859-292-2292 to notify crews that the debris is ready for removal.
If Your Property Was Damaged
If your home or property was damaged by the storm, contact your insurance company as soon as possible. Ask whether your policy provides coverage for food that had to be discarded because of an extended power outage.
Beware of Storm-Related Fraud
Residents should be cautious when hiring contractors for storm-related repairs. The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office recommends that residents:
- Research and verify that contractors are licensed before hiring them.
- Get the cost, timeline, and scope of work in writing.
- Never pay a contractor upfront for services.
Look Out for Your Neighbors
