COVINGTON, Ky. — The City of Covington continues to clean up debris and address storm-related damage following the severe weather that impacted several neighborhoods on Tuesday.
Our Public Works crews have been working since the storm hit to clear roadways and remove debris as quickly and safely as possible. At the same time, Duke Energy crews are working across the region to restore power to affected residents.
Safety Reminder: Stay Clear of Downed Power Lines
If storm damage involves downed wires or power lines, residents should stay away from the area and allow Duke Energy to assess and address the hazard first.
For safety reasons, the City's Public Works crews cannot remove trees or debris that are in contact with power lines until Duke Energy has determined the area is safe.
Tree Debris Drop-Off Locations
To assist residents with storm cleanup, the City is providing four temporary locations where tree debris may be dropped off over the next week:
- Austinburg Neighborhood Park, 502-16 E. 15th St.
- Bill Cappel Sports Complex (Lower Soccer Field), 4305 Decoursey Ave
- Hands Pike Park, 1200 Hands Pike
- Public Works Barn at Devou Park, 1625 Montague Rd.
Please note: These locations will accept tree debris only. No other storm debris or waste should be brought to these sites. Follow signage to find the drop-off areas.
Reporting Storm Damage for Removal
Residents are encouraged to place tree debris between their sidewalk and the road from August 12 to 19 for pickup. After notifying the City’s Public Works Department by calling 859-292-2292 or filling out an iWorQ portal request, crews will visit the property to remove the debris.
