Urban Forestry Division Invites Public to Explore Latonia’s Urban Forest on July 30

COVINGTON, Ky. – Residents and visitors are invited to discover the beauty and benefits of Latonia’s urban forest during a free community Tree Walk hosted by the City of Covington’s Urban Forestry Division, the Kenton County Public Library, and Green Umbrella.

The Tree Walk will take place on Wednesday, July 30, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Participants will meet at the Latonia Branch of the Kenton County Public Library (3911 Winston Ave) before setting out on a guided tour of the neighborhood.

Led by local experts, the walk will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about the diverse tree species that help define Latonia’s landscape, while also exploring the critical role trees play in supporting a healthy urban environment.

Along the way, attendees will gain practical insights into proper tree planting and maintenance techniques, including common mistakes that can negatively impact tree health and longevity. The tour will also highlight the rich biodiversity found throughout Latonia and why protecting and expanding the community’s urban forest is important for the neighborhood’s future.

The program is free and open to the public.

Pre-registration is encouraged and can be completed here
