City of Covington Announces Extensive Street Resurfacing Effort Across Multiple Neighborhoods

COVINGTON, Ky. — The City of Covington is launching an extensive street resurfacing initiative to improve roadway conditions across 10 neighborhoods, reinforcing the City’s ongoing commitment to safe and reliable infrastructure.

This latest effort includes resurfacing portions of more than two dozen streets across a broad geographic area of Covington, from residential cul-de-sacs to well-traveled corridors, ensuring smoother rides for residents, visitors, and commuters alike.

Streets scheduled for resurfacing include:

Golfview, Wideview, East 43rd Street, Philadelphia Street, East Pike Street, Gribble, Hawksridge Drive, Hideaway Drive, Morrison Road, Holman Street, Crystal Lake Drive, West 33rd Street, Farrell Drive, Shelby Street, Riverside Drive, Alexandria, Baltimore Avenue, Donaldson, Police Memorial Drive, Church Street, St. Clair Street, East 19th Street, Patton Street, East 16th Street, East 10th Street, Banklick, and West 9th Street.

The selection of these streets was guided by the Pavement Condition Index (PCI), an industry-standard measurement that rates road quality on a scale from 0 to 100. Every street within Covington is studied and ranked based on this metric to determine the potential level of disrepair.

“This investment reflects our commitment to maintaining and improving infrastructure citywide,” Mayor Ron Washington said. “By addressing streets across a wide range of neighborhoods, we’re making meaningful improvements that residents will see and feel every day.”

The City also encourages residents to report potholes and other infrastructure concerns through its iWorQ service request system. The app allows residents to quickly notify City staff about issues such as potholes, damaged sidewalks, streetlight outages, and other maintenance needs. These reports help City crews identify problems more efficiently and prioritize repairs.

Paving work is weather-dependent. While the overall contract is slated for completion in approximately five months, rain or extreme temperatures may cause shifts in the daily schedule.

The City is asking residents in impacted areas to be patient as work progresses. Temporary parking restrictions will be in place during paving operations, and affected residents will be notified by mail in advance.

Contracts for the resurfacing are expected to be approved by the Board of Commissioners during its Legislative Meeting on June 23, 2026. Once approved, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Street Resurfacing Project will be completed by Riegler Blacktop for $328,110.15. The Fiscal Year 2026 and Fiscal Year 2027 Street Resurfacing Projects will each be handled by Eaton Asphalt Paving Co. for $877,569.40 and $428,855.95, respectively.
