The City of Covington is reminding some residents and business owners that the recently distributed Notice of Delinquent Account letters are legitimate communications from the City.
The notices were mailed to residents and businesses whose accounts show an outstanding balance according to the City of Covington Finance Department's records. These balances may include Real Estate Taxes, Waste Fees, and/or Stormwater Fees owed to the City prior to calendar year 2026.
Recipients are encouraged to review the notice carefully and take action if a balance remains outstanding. Payment should be made to the City of Covington by June 30, 2026, to avoid additional collection activity.
The delinquent account notices are being sent pursuant to a Commission Order introduced by Commissioner James Toebbe. "Families are struggling enough with inflation, and raising property taxes should always be an absolute last resort," Commissioner Toebbe said. "Instead of asking residents who pay on time to give more, this Commission Order directs the City to go after the approximately 2.4 million dollars already owed to us in unpaid property taxes and fees. It's about accountability and protecting taxpayers who do the right thing."
Residents and business owners who received a notice can make payments using one of the following methods:
