COVINGTON, Ky – The City of Covington’s proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget reflects a continued commitment to balancing responsible financial management with investments that support residents and the City’s long-term future.
The proposed budget, currently under consideration by the Board of Commissioners, balances revenues and expenditures while addressing organizational and community needs through targeted investments in infrastructure, public safety, economic development, parks and recreation, and neighborhood projects.
Among the highlights included in the proposed FY27 budget are:
- $2,200,000 for road resurfacing projects across the city.
- $720,000 for heavy-duty trucks and snow equipment, and $550,000 for ambulance refurbishments to support public safety and emergency response operations.
- More than $650,000 for improvements to Devou Park’s trails, facilities, and programming.
- More than $300,000 in investments supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs.
- $150,000 to address vacant and abandoned buildings.
- $90,000 to continue the City’s community paramedicine pilot program, which provides medical services to underserved and vulnerable residents while helping reduce unnecessary 911 calls.
- $75,000 for a drone as a first responder program.
- $50,000 for Covington Recreation Commission programming, a partnership between the City and Covington Independent Public Schools.
- $40,000 to construct the South Covington Dog Park.
“This budget reflects our commitment to operating efficiently while continuing to invest in the things that matter most to our residents,” City Manager Sharmili Reddy said. “We are focused on maintaining strong core services and programs that improve quality of life, while making strategic investments to responsibly plan for the future.”
