City of Covington Recognizes Cymbal House with 2026 Authenti-CITY Award

COVINGTON, Ky. – The City of Covington is pleased to award Cymbal House with a 2026 Authenti-CITY Award for its unique craftsmanship and global connection to musical tradition.

The Authenti-CITY Awards were unveiled by the City’s Economic Development Department in 2021 to celebrate National Economic Development Week in a unique way. The awards honor small businesses that “keep it real in The Cov” by contributing to the city’s authentic character and creative energy.

Originally founded in 2006 by architect-turned-entrepreneur Erce Gokan, Cymbal House is a highly specialized retailer of premium, handcrafted cymbals located at 524 Main Street in the heart of Covington’s historic MainStrasse Village. The shop specializes in high-end cymbals used by professional drummers around the world, with many models crafted by hand using techniques rooted in centuries-old Turkish artistry.

Turkey’s tradition of cymbal making stretches back more than 400 years, with the earliest forms emerging in the 17th-century Ottoman Empire. Cymbal House showcases and preserves this legacy by sourcing its products from master artisans as well as designing and manufacturing its own signature brand, Xilxo, valued for its meticulous craftsmanship and distinctive tonal qualities.

Inside the showroom, visitors will find a finely tuned drum kit to home in on the perfect sound. The shop is a destination for drummers with discerning taste who are seeking rare tones and finishes. Online shoppers can hear the sound of each model, making the online purchase easier than ever to purchase your next high hat, crash, or ride cymbal.

Cymbal House channels Covington’s authenticity and creative spirit and pays homage to cultural and music heritage. For these reasons, Cymbal House has been awarded a 2026 Authenti-CITY Award.
