COVINGTON, Ky. – The City of Covington is honored to recognize the late Katie Meyer as a recipient of the 2026 Authenti-CITY Award for her lasting impact on the community’s growth and vibrancy.
The Authenti-CITY Awards were unveiled by the City’s Economic Development Department in 2021 to celebrate National Economic Development Week in a unique way. The awards honor individuals and small businesses that “keep it real in The Cov” through leadership, innovation, and community commitment.
As a 5th-generation Covingtonian, Katie Meyer’s leadership, dedication, and outstanding contributions have been a catalyst for the City’s revitalization. In 2010, as the Manager for Renaissance Covington, Katie spearheaded projects such as the Covington Farmer’s Market, the Covington Night Bazaar, Curb’d parklets, Shop Small initiatives, Free Public Wi-Fi, and many more. Renaissance Covington received the Great American Main Street Award from Main Street America, the Main Street Program to Watch Award, the Out of the Box Business Award, and the Community Champion Award. She received international recognition for the Running of the Goats, which is the main reason why the Authenti-CITY awards have a goat depicted on the trophy. Her work inspired her to co-author Walking Cincinnati: 32 Tours Exploring Historic Neighborhoods, Stunning Riverfront Quarters, and Hidden Treasures in the Queen City. She went on to work as the UniCity Policy Advisor for altafiber and eventually became the CEO of the Downtown Dayton Partnership.
In addition to her professional achievements, Katie was the co-chair for the NKY Pride Center to ensure that growth and progress remain inclusive, safe, and equitable for all.
Katie Meyer’s contributions stand as a testament to the power of committed leadership and a community-focused vision. For these reasons and so many more, Katie Meyer has been awarded a 2026 Authenti-CITY Award.
