COVINGTON, Ky. – The City of Covington is pleased to recognize Jordan and Lauren Huizenga for the transformation of 15–17 W. 9th Street with the 2026 Exterior Restoration Award in the Residential category.
The Preservation Excellence Awards honor individuals and organizations whose preservation projects thoughtfully protect, restore, and adapt Covington’s historic buildings. The awards are presented each year during National Preservation Month in May and recognize projects completed between January and December 2025.
Built in the 1880s as two separate townhomes, this beautiful piece of history stood unchanged for generations. That is, until 2023—when it was time for a bold new vision. Through creative planning, hands-on project management, and a truly demanding construction conversion, this dual residence became a single-family home. Every detail was carefully considered—from modern layouts and luxury amenities to preserved architectural elements that honor the building’s roots.
Today, it stands as a celebration of what’s possible when history meets thoughtful design—and one lucky family gets to call it home.
