Covington Motor Vehicle Parking Authority to Add Temporary Parking on E. 4th Street During Bridge Closure

Additional spaces aim to support local businesses and improve access to Roebling Point

COVINGTON, Ky. – The Covington Motor Vehicle Parking Authority (CMVPA) will temporarily add on-street parking along the south side of E. 4th Street between Garrard Street and Legacy Way following the closure of the 4th Street Bridge as part of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s ongoing bridge replacement project

The added parking is intended to provide more convenient options for residents, visitors, and customers accessing Roebling Point and surrounding high-demand destinations.

Between Garrard Street and Sanford Street, approximately 7 to 9 new spaces will be added as part of the Licking Riverside residential parking program. From Sanford Street to Legacy Way, an additional 18 to 19 paid parking spaces will be installed.

Paid parking rates will match existing kiosk spaces throughout the area at $1.50 per hour, enforced from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Parking will remain free overnight.

To support the new paid spaces, one kiosk per block face will be installed, offering multiple payment options, including credit cards and online payment apps. New signage will also be added to clearly designate parking regulations and availability.

“This is a practical step we can take to help both businesses and visitors during the bridge closure,” said Kyle Snyder, Executive Director of the CMVPA. “With the bridge closure, this created a good opportunity to expand parking options. By adding parking in this area, we’re making it easier for people to access Roebling Point and reducing the frustration that can come with searching for a spot.”

The City and CMVPA will continue to evaluate parking needs and explore solutions to support the community while the bridge is closed.
