Read Ready Covington Launches “Read Across Covington” Reading Challenge for PreK–3rd Grade Students

COVINGTON, Ky. — Read Ready Covington is inviting families across the city to take part in the Read Across Covington Reading Challenge, a month-long effort designed to build early literacy skills while making reading fun and rewarding for young learners.

The challenge runs from March 2 through April 5 and is open to all children ages 4 through Grade 3 who live or attend school in Covington

Through the Footsteps2Brilliance app, children can read stories, play interactive skill-building games, and participate in fun learning activities. The goal is simple: 20 minutes of reading at least four days each week — or a total of 70 minutes per week.

Each week, six children who meet the 70-minute challenge will be randomly selected to receive a special prize package that includes:

  • Storybooks

  • A craft kit and “how-to” book

  • A Read Ready Covington t-shirt

  • School and art supplies

  • And more fun surprises

Prizes will be delivered directly to the child’s school, early education center, or home.

How to Participate

Families can log in regularly at www.footsteps2brilliance.com/covington to access reading materials and educational games.

  • If your child is already enrolled, they can begin reading and playing right away.

  • Parents can create a family account, enroll themselves, and attach each child’s account to monitor progress and usage.

Important:
Be sure to upload each child’s activity in Footsteps2Brilliance by Sunday evening every week. Only uploaded activity will be counted toward the weekly challenge.
