Update from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet:

The upcoming closure of the KY 8/Fourth Street Licking River Bridge between Covington and Newport is expected the week of January 12, 2026. KYTC will provide a specific date/time ahead of the closure.

The bridge will be closed to all road users (vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists) through Summer 2028.

Vehicle traffic can detour using the Girl Scout Bridge between Covington and Newport, Brent Spence Bridge, Clay Wade Bailey Bridge, or the Taylor Southgate Bridge.

A shuttle service will be provided by TANK (Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky). More information can be found here: www.ky8bridge.org
