City of Covington Welcomes Two New Police Officers

COVINGTON, Ky. — The City of Covington welcomed two new officers to its Police Department during a swearing-in ceremony held at City Hall on Monday.

Mayor Ron Washington administered the oath of office to Officer Keegan Flaherty and Officer Tristan Parsons, with the officers’ family and leadership from the Covington Police Department in attendance. Following the oath, Chief Justin Wietholter presented each officer with their badge.

Officer Flaherty is set to graduate from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Organizational Leadership.

Officer Parsons, who previously served in the U.S. Army, grew up living in Covington and now returns to serve the city.

Both officers will now begin the Basic Training Academy hosted by the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond. The program includes weeks of online, in-house, and extensive in-person instruction.

Following their graduation, the officers will enter the Covington Police Department’s 20-week Field Training Program, where they will receive hands-on experience alongside veteran officers.
