COVINGTON, Ky. – The City of Covington’s Parks and Recreation Division has been recognized by the Center for Great Neighborhoods with the Great Neighbor Award, honoring the division’s dedication and impact on the community.
Each year, the Center for Great Neighborhoods presents Great Neighbor Awards to individuals and organizations who are making a difference in Covington. Only one community organization is selected annually, and this year, the Center chose the City’s Parks and Recreation Division.
In presenting the award, the Center for Great Neighborhoods praised the division for its “hard work and dedication to the Covington community, and for ensuring that our community has safe and beautiful spaces to gather and connect with our neighbors.” The Center also highlighted the division’s “thoughtful programming that gives the youth in our city free and fun activities to which they otherwise would not have access.”
Covington Parks and Recreation operates more than two dozen neighborhood parks and playgrounds throughout the city, offering a variety of free programs and events — from youth sports and summer camps to movie nights, community cleanups, and cultural celebrations.
The City extends its thanks to the Center for Great Neighborhoods for recognizing the division’s work and for its continued partnership in helping Covington’s neighborhoods thrive.
