On Friday, July 18, 2025, Covington Police Chief Brian Valenti and Mayor Ron Washington held a press conference to address an incident that occurred on the Roebling Bridge on the night of Thursday, July 17, 2025, and the Department’s response.
The incident resulted in multiple arrests and significant disruptions to public safety and the flow of traffic on the bridge.
Some videos circulating online have drawn attention, particularly one clip involving an officer during an arrest.
That officer has been placed on Administrative Duty while the Department conducts a full and fair investigation into the use of force.
The City supports the right to assemble peacefully. At the same time, the City supports its police officers, who are often placed in challenging and fast-moving situations. But any use of force must be lawful and measured.
The City is committed to transparency, accountability, and maintaining trust between law enforcement and the public.
During the press conference, Chief Valenti presented videos and photos and described what took place in each clip. The videos provide additional perspective and context for the Department’s response to the incident.
