COVINGTON, Ky. – It’s Independence Day weekend in The Cov, and before you grill the burgers and hotdogs, march or ride in a parade, wave a flag in the air, or sit beneath a burst of fireworks in the night sky, pause and remind yourself what we’re celebrating: when 56 courageous men signed a document making it clear that they, their families, and their neighbors had no intention of living under the overbearing rule of the British Empire an ocean way.
This weekend there’s some fun holiday celebrations in The Cov, but there’s also a vibrant array of things to do like live music, trivia, music bingo, shop the farmers market, see a musical, and more.
Here’s to a safe and fun celebration. (And, in the spirit of the holiday, say "no more" to whatever you find overbearing.)
A parade … hotdogs … cold beer … BBQ … fireworks … and more.
Here are a few ways to celebrate the Fourth of July in The Cov on Friday:
Bicycles, wagons, strollers, rollerblades, scooters, skateboards, dogs, cars, trucks, and floats will take to the streets for the annual Peaselburg Independence Day Parade on Friday. The parade starts at 11 a.m., and, afterwards, gather at St. Augustine School for food, refreshments, and an announcement of prizes.
Sure, you could invite folks over to your place for a cold brew on the Fourth, but why not go to Braxton Brewing Co.’s 4th of July Party on the Patio? They’ll have live music from Anita & The Daves Acoustic Duo, and the latest archive series release of its bold and fruity Blueberry Strudel brew. Good times and no cleanup for you.
Want to watch fireworks? The VFW 6095 in Latonia will have a Fourth of July Celebration, on Friday, complete with BBQ, fireworks, and live music.
