COVINGTON, Ky. – Here’s a reminder that offices at City Hall at 20 W. Pike St. will be closed on Thursday, June 19, in recognition of the Juneteenth holiday. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 20.

June 19 has long been celebrated by many African Americans as “Freedom Day” or “Juneteenth Independence Day,” marking the end to slavery in the United States.

In 2022, The Covington Board of Commissioners voted to recognize Juneteenth as an official City holiday.
