COVINGTON, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University graduate Charles Sora was sworn in as Covington’s newest Police Officer earlier this morning.

Sora, who was issued the oath of office by Mayor Ron Washington during a brief ceremony at City Hall, joins his brother as a Covington Police Officer.

“With Charlie Sora’s swearing in we are now 110 sworn officers,” said  Covington Assistant Chief of Police Matthew Winship. “He joins his brother, Jackson who joined the Covington Police Department in 2023.”

Winship said the Covington Police Department has employed siblings multiple times throughout its history, as well as father/son and father/daughter duos.

“Law enforcement continues to be a family tradition in Covington,” said Winship.

Prior to attending NKU, where he graduated in May with a bachelors in Exercise Science, Sora attended Covington Catholic High School.

Sora will attend the Basic Academy in Richmond for 20 weeks, then continue his field training in Covington.
