NKY Pride & Fishing Derby

COVINGTON, Ky. – Rainbow flags are gonna fly, floats are gonna roll, and there will be drag in the city where “Y’all really means all.”

NKY Pride 2025 festivities start tonight and run throughout the weekend, celebrating inclusivity, diversity, and an overall welcoming disposition here in The Cov.

You’ll find lots of other fun things to do too, like a Fishing Derby, great live music, the farmers market, music trivia (with cats), cool craft workshops, a reading quest, and more.

It all starts with a drag show

NKY Pride 2025 kicks off tonight with in a celebration of community, equality, and acceptance at the NKY Pride Rooftop Drag Show at Braxton Brewing Co.

Molly Mormen is host for this fun-filled, entertaining evening that features the release of Braxton’s Archive Series: Strawberry Kiwi Lager.

Next up is Saturday’s NKY Pride 2025 Pop-Up Shop, which is the place to get the hippest of Pride gear, like this year’s BLDG-designed t-shirt (it will sell out for sure, so don’t dally), new hats, and sweet deals on merchandise from previous years, Pride flags, pins, and just about everything else you could dream of so that you’ll be properly attired and accessorized for all the  festivities.

On Sunday, the 16th Annual NKY Pride Festival & Parade – Y’all Means All! will wrap its way through Covington (here’s the NKY Pride Parade route), culminating in the most festive of festivals at Goebel Park.

But that’s not all! The Official NKY Pride After Party happens at Coppin’s at Hotel Covington at 5 p.m. on Sunday, complete with a DJ and drag show, and Brooklyn Steele-Tate and Sarah Jessica Darker as emcees.

Name that purrfect tune

The competition will be fierce and there will be lots of feline vibes at Guess That Song: 2010s Throwback Trivia Night at Purrfect Day Cat Café.

From floor anthems to emo heartbreakers, this is your time to shine and show that you’ve got main character energy when it comes to 2010 hits.

Bring your friends and you’re a-game. Losers get cat cuddles (so there are no losers, actually), and prizes for first, second, and third place.

Calling all young anglers

Covington Parks & Recreation’s annual Youth Fishing Derby is on Saturday, and that means a FREE fun-filled day at Prisoners Lake in Devou Park.

The event is open to kids ages 15 and under. Bait is provided and pole rentals are available with a parent ID.

Prizes awarded for “longest fish,” “shortest fish,” and “heaviest fish,” and “most fish caught.”

Free hotdogs while they last.

Bard and brush

Kool Kat in The Spotlight: A Shakespearean Masterpiece at Purple Paisley, Local Artisan Shop on Saturday is where The Bard meets the brush (paintbrush, that is) in a painting class.

You’ll be guided step by step as you bring your very own Shakespearean Kool Kat to life, your feline embodying the emotional depth of one of Shakespeare’s characters.
