COVINGTON, Ky. – This is a weekend for big fun in The Cov, so plan to spread mulch another time.
There’s Maifest … the Ohio River Sweep … the annual Duveneck Art Show … a neighborhood tree walk … and the Northern Kentucky Regional History Weekend. Big stuff.
And don’t forget about all the great live music, bingo, yoga classes, artisan market, farmers market, and more.
All range of German-themed family fun will commence on Friday as we celebrate the return of spring at the Covington Maifest 2025 at Goebel Park.
All weekend long (the event runs through Sunday) you can look forward to lots of German eats, live music, maypole dancing, cold steins of beer, and loads of family-friendly fun.
There’s going to be kids’ activations, artisan vendors, and even a Children’s Entrepreneur Market (in other words, something for everyone).
Bright and early Saturday morning you can make your way to the river and participate in the Ohio River Sweep Litter Clean-Up Event at 14 Pete Rose Pier off 2nd Street, north side of the flood wall.
Expect muddy shoes and sore muscles and be prepared to see more than your share of straws, cigarette butts, fast food wrappers, and maybe an occasional television, Big Wheel, baby doll, or shopping cart. But just know that you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment and time well-spent with good folks.
Covington’s Solid Waste & Recycling Division partners with Keep Covington Beautiful on the event, and their aim is to not only pretty up the river’s edge but also to keep trash and debris out of the water itself.
Saturday’s Tree Walk in Botany Hills is a guided walk with horticulture agent Brandon George and Covington Urban Forester Patrick Moore, and will highlight interesting trees in the neighborhood.
Meet up with everyone at St. John’s Congregational Church at 1235 Highway Ave.
The 54th Annual Duveneck Art Show returns to The Cov on Saturday, promising the fantastic selection of regional art that we’ve come to expect from this long beloved event that honors Covington’s own world renowned artist Frank Duveneck.
Spend the day perusing an array of creations as you stroll beneath a canopy of trees in the bucolic setting of George Rogers Clark Park, and enjoy music, food trucks, and a pretty spectacular view that’s just a stone’s throw from the river.
The event is free and open to the public.
Five local nonprofits are collaborating for a weekend of regional and local history events in several communities, among them The Cov, during the Northern Kentucky Regional History Weekend.
On Saturday, there’s a guided tour of the Harlan Hubbard exhibit at the Behringer-Crawford Museum. Then, on Sunday, join other curious minds for a presentation by the Kenton County Historical Society about the Covington riverfront murals.
