Hoops, menopause & Easter eggs

COVINGTON, Ky. – You COULD spend this weekend searching for Kate Middleton … sleuthing out the identity of mac n cheese billboard guy … and building a fall-out shelter and studying zombies as prep for April’s end-of-the-world total eclipse.

Or you could watch a lot (A LOT) of hoops at a Covington bar, make your kids’ day by taking them to various Easter egg hunts, shop at the Covington Farmers Market, and attend one of the various craft events in The Cov.

Go (insert team here)!

Braxton Brewing Co. kicks off the NCAA Tournament tonight with Braxton Covington Storm the Court – March Madness.

Between now and March 23, you can enjoy the final games of the tournament on all of Braxton’s televisions while you enjoy a few brews (including Storm Golden Ale and a limited-edition Blueberry Storm variant), devour a slice of pizza, and test your pop-a-shot skills.

(NOTE: This year, we’re eschewing men’s hoops to watch the women. That South Carolina/LSU/Iowa State drama? And Caitlin. Angel. Paige. Kamilla. Cameron. Aaliyah. JuJu. You don’t even need last names to know who we’re talking about.)

Get egg-cited

Saturday is all about the kiddos at Covington Parks and Rec’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Devou Park Bandshell.

Along with a zillion eggs to hunt, there’s going to be a petting zoo, yard games, snacks and drinks, booths from local organizations, an egg toss game, an egg and spoon race, and a photo booth with none other than the Easter Bunny (Be sure to bring your phone or camera and the Parks & Rec staff will use it to take the photos.)

Easter egg hunts are divided into three different age categories and take place at different times, so check the link so your little ones don’t miss out.

A ‘liberating’ conversation

Woman to Woman – Let’s Talk at the Towers of Rivercenter on Saturday shifts the dialogue on women’s health and menopause from one of dread and woe to the long-overdue uplifting conversation about women entering the “liberation” phase of their lives.

The event is sponsored by Inspired Fashion Boutique and topics will cover physical health, beauty, nutrition, and more. Tickets include a happy hour with music, networking, and delicious hors d’ oeuvres.

More Easter-y stuff

And if your kids aren’t all Easter Bunnied out, how about these seasonal attractions:

  • Easter Egg Hunt on Friday evening at the N.Ky. Salvation Army, part of the organization’s Monthly Family Fun Night.
  • Bunny Brunch on Saturday morning at The Roost Latonia, including a waffle station, breakfast meats, quiche, fruit, and craft drinks. Make sure you register and buy a ticket.
