Blanche & Betty off the top rope

COVINGTON, Ky. – This is tax weekend, courtesy of the Eye Are Ess, but we’re assuming you’ve already filed your 1040 and hopefully got back some coin.

That means money to play.

Plus, Lent is over, which means you’re back doing whatever it is that you gave up for those 40 days, like … (fill in the blank).

Perfect.

Venture out in The Cov this weekend, where we have a pub crawl, a one-woman performance that comes with a warning, the double entendres of four old ladies, some suplexes and powerslams, a drag fashion show, and all sorts of live music – not to mention yarn, yoga, and trail maintenance.

Forget the crackerjacks

Puzzles and problems, clues and codes, baseball and beer.

They all mesh up Saturday at the Braxton and Bells Baseball Pub Crawl, so grab up to three friends and form a team.

Check-in happens at 6:30 p.m. at The Well (somewhat across the street from Braxton Brewing), and Rich’s Proper Food & Drink and Braxton are also participating.

‘Apologize in advance’

Things were all serious at The Carnegie on Wednesday evening, when the arts and events center hosted a public hearing so the Covington Board of Commissioners could gather feedback on the subject of short-term rentals.

That was then. This Saturday, things will be a lot funnier and less reverent – so much so that “Maddie Vaughn would like to apologize in advance.”

In other words, adult themes amid the songs, retrospectives and laughter.

The One Woman Sh*t Show is part of The Carnegie’s Creative Disruption Series.

Blanche & friends

It’s been 31 years since “The Golden Girls” went off the air, and – were all four actresses still alive today – they’d be a combined 391 years old.

But that’s part of the appeal, right?

On Sunday, Creative House of Art & Design is tapping in to the enduring popularity of the cult comedy classic with Golden Girls Paint Night. That means cheesecake, trivia, prizes, and a craft.

There’s also a GG-themed cocktail, and while we know what it’s named, we’re not telling.

Let’s get ready to rumble!!!

That might be a boxing thing, courtesy of Michael Buffer (not to be confused with his half-brother Bruce Buffer’s “Itttttttttttt’s TIME!!!!!” catchphrase screamed in The Octagon before MMA matches).

But it’s certainly appropriate come Saturday, when 30 men – THIRTY MEN!!! – pummel each other in the ring at the same time at NWF Rumble 2023.

Yes indeed, Hits Indoor Baseball and Sportsplex will again host the Northern Wrestling Federation and all its shenanigans.

You should know that Rex has entered The Rumble, which is for the NWF title, btw … and that Joshua has been banned from ringside in a top women’s match (possibly giving Riley Matthews renewed hope against “Next Level” Nikki Victory).  However, Joshua is also taking on Andrew “Right Now” Reed.

Who knows, you might see the next Triple H or Booker T (we’re dating ourselves, at least we didn’t say Sgt. Slaughter or the “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka).

Love is love, y’all

There’s just a little over 50 days until Covington shows its Pride by hosting NKY Pride’s annual parade and festival throughout downtown streets (and ending in a City park).

If your organization plans to march and/or set up a booth, you should know that Saturday is the early bird registration deadline (as in big price discount).

Why wait?

Sign up now, and don’t miss a big ol’ time.
