High winds, fallen tree disrupt Easter Egg hunt

COVINGTON, Ky. – High winds are knocking down branches and trees and causing damage throughout the area, including in Devou Park, where a large tree snapped and dropped on an area that was to be used for the City’s annual Easter Egg hunt early this afternoon.

Out of caution, the event was cut short and reduced in scope, Parks & Recreation Manager Ben Oldiges said, although Parks & Rec staff were able to hold most of the activities, give out food, and distribute many of the thousands of eggs.

However, there are eggs left.

Parks & Rec will meet Monday and organize some sort of mini-event to give out the remainder of the eggs. Watch the City’s social media and website for details.
