Wine, yoga & Hollywood glitter

COVINGTON, Ky. – Stretch, clean, and check out some Hollywood glitter and glam this weekend.

You’re also invited to a magical birthday party where part of the magic is you can make a difference for others by bringing canned goods to donate to Be Concerned for its food pantry.

Chase away the blues with a good red

Want to know a good way to shrug off the rainy day blues? Stop in at Crafts & Vines tonight for their Thursday Tasting and sip these clouds away with some tasty reds.

They’ll be pouring Cabernet Sauvignon and Cab Franc tonight. Plus, they’re cooking up stuffed mushroom caps for the pairing. 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. seatings available.

A ‘White Christmas’ extended

You’ve got from now through Sunday to take in the grandeur of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas: The Exhibit at Behringer Crawford Museum, so don’t miss out.

The dates for the popular exhibit were extended, given the immense local interest.

So check out the Hollywood glamour, the elaborate costumes, movie memorabilia, studio props, sheet music, cast members’ memorabilia, and more from this Paramount Pictures holiday film that featured Augusta’s own Rosemary Clooney.

Culling connections

There’s still time to peruse the These Things Are Connected exhibit at The Carnegie, which calls out connections between an array of subject – such asocial justice and reform movements, early and modern humanity, and more – all through an artist’s lens.

The exhibit is open today through Saturday and runs through Jan. 28. It brings together five curators who work inside and outside of the region and asks them to select and develop projects based on linking artists across different geographies. Artists include Dejiah Archie-Davis, Andrew Cenci, Thomas Dozol, Myra Greene, Jaida Grey Eagle, Lorena Molina, Kristin Rogers, Josh Sachs, Rebecca Steele, and Xia Zhang.

Get to cleanin’ (the trail, that is)

Bring your gloves, bottled water, and safety glasses (maybe some boots too), to the gravel lot trailhead off Sleepy Hollow Road in Ludlow on Sunday morning and lend a hand to help maintain and construct Devou Park Trails on Devou Trail Day.

No experience necessary, just a willingness to work hard and get a little muddy. These volunteers have done an incredible job over the years, and Covington’s Devou Park is better for it.

The purrfect exercise

Looking for the purrfect mix of exercise, cuddles, and refreshments?

We’ve got just the thing for you.

Perfect your cat-cow pose this Sunday in company with the professionals (sans the cows, of course), for Yoga with Damon & Cats at Purrfect Day Pet Café.

Magic Don’s birthday party

That magical Capricorn, Magic Don, is celebrating his 70th birthday with a party for everyone on Saturday at the Kenton County Public Library.

Happy Birthday Magic Party with Magic Don is gonna feature a fun time with magical birthday tricks, family comedy, and some silly kid audience participation.

The party is free, but Kenton County Parks and Recreation (the party’s co-sponsor), will be collecting donations of non-perishable food and personal care items for Be Concerned, an organization that does some mighty fine work for many.
