Civic Association proposing changes to permit program
COVINGTON, Ky. – A public meeting will be held Monday, Jan. 24, to get feedback on proposed changes to the residential parking permit program in the Historic Licking Riverside Neighborhood.
The program, first established more than a decade ago in 2009, was a response to an inundation of cars parking in the neighborhood for long periods of time while drivers, among other things, crossed the Ohio River to attend Reds and Bengals games.
The neighborhood stretches from the Ohio River south to Eighth Street, and from the Licking River west, splitting the block between Greenup Street and Scott Boulevard.
The meeting will be hosted by the Historic Licking Riverside Civic Association, and residents can attend in person or virtually. It runs from 6:30 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the auditorium at the Life Learning Center, 20 W. 18th St. If you attend in person, please wear a covering over your mouth and nose.

During the meeting, the association will present its proposed changes. Any revision would need to go first to the Covington Motor Vehicle Parking Authority for a possible recommendation to the Covington Board of Commissioners, which would have the final say.

The City will be represented at the meeting by Covington Neighborhood Services Director Brandon Holmes, among others.
“We’re there to listen and answer questions,” Holmes said. “At this point, we’re neutral on the plan but want to hear from all sides.”
