Trash & recycling on schedule next week, but transfer station closed for repairs

COVINGTON, Ky. – There’s a slight adjustment to the holiday trash pickup schedule we posted last week.

This part is still the same: Trash & recycling pickup for Covington residents will follow the normal schedule Monday-Friday next week leading up to New Year’s Day holiday, Rumpke Waste & Recycling says. (Commercial customers who usually see service on Saturday, however, will instead get picked up on Friday.)

This part has changed: The transfer station will closed to drop-offs from Tuesday, Dec. 28, through Sunday, Jan. 2, for repairs.

Meanwhile, a few reminders that will help all of us reduce waste in landfills and mitigate the subsequent negative impact on the environment:

  • LIGHTS: If you have holiday lights that aren’t working, you can drop them off in recycling bins at City Hall and several other places. See HERE for details.
  • TREES: If you put up a natural tree, we want to turn it into mulch after you take it down. See HERE for drop-off locations or how to set it out with your trash.
  • RECYCLING: Our “Recycle Right Wednesday” feature we publish every two weeks recently shared actions you can take to make the holidays less wasteful. See HERE.
