COVINGTON, Ky. – The City of Covington is looking for two people who can help its newly formed Storm Water Division get started.

Applications for the new positions of storm water maintenance supervisor and storm water maintenance worker will be accepted through Aug. 12.

Applicants can learn more about the jobs and apply online HERE.

Public Works Director Chris Warneford, whose Department oversees the new division, said he’s looking for people with good attitudes who can work as part of a team, who are self-motivated and can solve problems, and who take pride in their work. But they also need skills and must have experience in public works, construction, or maintenance, he said.

A lot of the work will entail rebuilding or repairing concrete catch basins, culverts, and ditches, so Warneford said he’s looking for people who can operate a backhoe, a trackhoe, dump truck, skid steer loaders and similar equipment.

Other jobs in the division might come open down the line, he said.

“This is a fledging division, and we’re building it one step at a time,” he said. “Its success will depend on being staffed with people who can do the work steadily and efficiently.”
