Gas line work starts Wednesday

The red line shows the gas main(s) to be replaced.

Upgrade to make way for development west of Duveneck Square

COVINGTON, Ky. – Traffic will be disrupted near Duveneck Square starting Wednesday morning so an underground gas main can be upgraded to accommodate future development.

No street will be shut down completely, but drivers should be alert for construction traffic and delays and at times for directions from traffic flaggers, City officials said.

The construction area primarily will run along Washington Street between West Eighth and West Seventh streets, with work turning the corner on Eighth toward Madison Avenue and turning the corner on Seventh toward Pike Street.

Duke Energy is doing the work, and it’s expected to last about three weeks.

Residents and business owners in the area should have received official notification from Duke.

The new 8-inch gas main will prepare for future development just west of the Duveneck Square apartments.
