Santa's recycling list

(EDITOR'S NOTE: This is another in a series of recycling tips from the City of Covington's Neighborhood Services Department, Solid Waste & Recycling Division.)

COVINGTON, Ky. – What with gift-giving and other festivities, the holidays produce a lot of trash. Some of it can be recycled. Some of it can’t.

Here’s a holiday-themed list of what should or shouldn’t be thrown into your City of Covington recycling bin.

And remember: Following these tips will determine whether Santa adds you to his “nice” list or condemns you to his “naughty” list:

“Good”
  • Wrapping paper (not aluminum foil).
  • Gift boxes, gift bags, & gift tags.
  • Cardboard boxes.
  • Greeting cards & envelopes.
  • Wine & liquor bottles.
  • Holiday sales ads.
“Bad”
  • Ribbons & bows.
  • Tissue paper.
  • Plastic shopping bags.
  • Plastic packaging.
  • Toys.
  • Christmas lights (throw these in the barrel outside City Hall).
  • Aluminum pie & roasting pans.
  • Batteries.
