Bagels, blooms & bikes

COVINGTON, Ky. - First, some PSAs:
  • You have until Monday to request an absentee ballot for the June 23.
  • You have a little over a week to get a Father’s Day present.
  • And, most importantly, the pandemic is not over. We know that many businesses, offices, and other establishments that were closed have started to open up again. But you still have an obligation to do what you can to avoid spreading the highly contagious virus that causes COVID-19.
Having conveyed all that, here's a short list of weekend events in #LoveTheCov:

Bagels & blooms
Saying it has created one of the great pairings of all time, Lil’s Bagels is bringing in Scarlet Begonia’s Flower Truck on Sunday.

Eat a delicious bagel (or sandwich or schmear), and get a bouquet wrapped.

Info, HERE.

How to ride a mountain bike
Riding off-country on a mountain bike is one of those things that sounds and looks easy ... until you try it.

Fortunately, you can learn the basic skills (or refresh your knowledge and test your muscle memory) with the GOT DIRT Mountain Bike Beginner Skills Clinic on Saturday morning at Devou Park.

Among the topics covered are bike and body positioning, climbing and descending, drops, and log rollovers. Sign up HERE and be prepared to abide by safety protocols related to COVID-19.

Or, if you’re a little more advanced, sign up for GOT DIRT Level 2 Clinic on Sunday, which will cover things like roll-down lunges, off drops, pedal punches, wheel lifts, switchbacks and more.
Info, HERE.

Making your own earrings
If you want to treat your eyes to soothing patterns, google “purple paisley” and look under “images.”

OK, forget that stream-of-consciousness aside (our mind wandered). The real news is that Purple Paisley, Local Artisan Shop is back in action with a series of creative Saturday classes - this one to make pearl earrings and earrwires.

You must sign up in advance, and space is limited. Info, HERE.

Covington Farmers Market
Every time we start listing all the locally grown and produced food for sale at the Covington Farmers Market, we start getting hungry: Honey, chicken and turkey eggs, fresh meat, freshly baked pastries of many different kinds, lettuce and many other salad greens etc. etc.

And of course you can buy herbs and plant starts, coffee beans, sugar scrubs and soaps too.

It’s Saturday morning at Roebling Point.

Wear a mask, and no pets. Info, HERE.

‘Y’ is for yoga
The Kenton County Public Library is indeed back open, but this is a virtual event: Finally Friday Yoga, at 4 p.m.

Get your stretch on and your centering in, all in the familiar surroundings of your home, HERE.
