The City of Covington’s Public Works Department has a variety of open positions it’s looking to fill.

“It’s getting warmer, the grass and trees are growing, and there’s plenty of work to be done, so we want to get some hires on board quickly,” Public Works Director Rick Davis said.

The jobs are:
  • Municipal specialist - This is the technical name for the City’s urban forester, who oversees the long-term care and management of the City’s thousands of public trees. A college degree is necessary.
  • Municipal grounds worker - This person will do landscaping, arboriculture, and general groundskeeping within the Urban Forestry Department.
  • Landscape and maintenance worker - Duties for this year-by-year job include cutting grass, trimming weeds, pruning bushes, painting and repairing fences, sharpening tools, and painting crosswalks. Pay for this position was recently increased, and the City is looking to fill several of these positions.
