Read Ready Covington is seeking a VISTA

Read Ready Covington is a collaboration of over 24 partner orgs in NKY that is led by a program director supported by the City of Covington government. Its purpose is to address deficits in early childhood preparation for kindergarten by providing resources to children and families. This will be carried out through community mobilization efforts to establish early literacy as a community value throughout Covington.

The program goals are 2-fold:
  • Increase the number of Covington children that demonstrate Kindergarten readiness by age five.
  • Increase the number of students that complete third grade that are reading on grade level.
Working with RRC’s Program Director, the KYCC VISTA will assist with direct service to the community through information sessions, trainings, summer/after-school student activities, and parent sign-ups. In addition, the VISTA will monitor and maintain up-to-date records for the program apps, help build periodic reports to collaboration partners, and prepare materials for meetings.Bilingual Spanish speakers are highly encouraged to apply.

This is a 12 month, fulltime year of service with the option to complete a second year as a VISTA Fellow.
