Reminder: Property tax deadline Monday

COVINGTON, Ky. - Property tax payments in the City of Covington are due by end of the day Monday.

That day - Oct. 15 - is also the last day that City Hall will open earlier and close later as a convenience for taxpayers.

The Finance Customer Service walk-in window - located just inside the entrance to City Hall at 20 West Pike St. - will be open until 5:30 p.m. today and will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday for any residents who want to pay in person. After Monday, City Hall's hours will revert to 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Residents can also pay their tax bill in other ways:
  • Through an updated, user friendly online program. There are two paths to the online taxpayer portal from the City website's home page, which is HERE. Clicking the "Make a Payment" logo (and the bottom) leads to the general tax page. Clicking "Property Tax" under the "Forms & Documents" section leads directly to the taxpayer portal, HERE.
  • By mail at P.O. Box 643749, Cincinnati, OH 45264. The envelope must be post-marked Oct. 15 or earlier to be considered on time.
  • By calling (859) 292-2180.
  • By dropping the payment off in a secure, after-hours drop box that appears as a slot on the outside wall of City Hall (to the left of the main entrance but not under the overhang). Payments dropped off after 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 will be considered on time if received prior to Oct. 16 at 8 a.m.
Any payment received after Oct. 15 will be considered delinquent and may incur penalties and interest charges.

The property tax rate in Covington this year is the same as last year.
