City Seeks Applications for an Americorps Member and a Seasonal Laborer to join our Neighborhood Services Department

We are currently seeking an Americorps Member to join Neighborhood Services Department.

Job Title:                Americorps Member

Salary Range:        $13,990/year

Education Award: $5,920

Site Responsibilities:The City of Covington is partnering with the state to host a full time Americorps member. The member will serve as the crew supervisor for a pilot program with the Groundworks Cincinnati. The member will supervise a youth green team, providing educational enrichment as well as coordinate service projects such as trail building, invasive species removal, tree plantings, garden maintenance and more. The green team will also be engaged in outdoor recreation opportunities such as camping, kayaking and hiking. The Americorps member will be responsible for reviewing and updating curriculum materials, developing recruitment materials for the green team, scheduling activities, as well as coordinating public nature programs.

We are currently seeking a Seasonal Laborer to join our Neighborhood Services Department.

Job Title:                  Seasonal Laborer

Department:             Neighborhood Services

Salary Range:         $12.75 - $14.00/Hourly

SUMMARY:
The Parks and Recreation Seasonal Laborer will directly assist the Recreation Program Coordinator with the day-to-day operational activities for events and programs. The Seasonal Laborer will also review the shelter reservation calendar and conduct site evaluations to confirm the shelters have been prepared for customers. Additional tasks will include assisting with special projects in parks such as overseeing both volunteer-led service days in parks, as well as contracted invasive species removal along trails and assist in the removal of downed trees in park areas. Further, as available to Seasonal Laborer would assist in the coordination of tree and garden planting events, watering and pruning, as well as assisting in the installation and maintenance of special park features such as pollinator and rain gardens. Provides additional assistance to Parks and Recreation Division, as needed.
