Fishing, farm produce & family friendly

COVINGTON, Ky. - Family friendly is the theme in #LoveTheCov this weekend, with a fishing derby, an outdoor movie, and a chance to see some ferocious birds of prey.
But if you don’t have kids (or nieces or nephews), there are events like fly fishing lessons, a pool party for dogs, and a clever knockoff of a popular web series talk show.
Check it out:
Resurrection of David Bowie(s)
Outdoor movies are back in Devou Park, and this one comes with a fun twist: A David Bowie costume contest.
Friday’s free, family friendly movie at the band shell features Labyrinth, the 1986 cult classic from The Jim Henson Company.
The costume contest will start at 8:45 p.m. and is not limited to Bowie's Labyrinth character. Ziggy Stardust re-creations are also welcome.
Details, HERE.

Talons and beaks
Meet three birds of prey - aka Raptor Inc.’s “avian ambassadors” - at Behringer-Crawford Museum during its Family Friendly Friday event. The event in Devou Park starts at 7 p.m. Click HERE.

Fishing with flies
The experts at the Northern Kentucky Fly Fishers will teach you how to choose your equipment, rig your reel, tie knots, and cast during an all-day class Saturday that includes lunch.

Fishing with kids
At the other end of the angling spectrum is the Annual Kids Fishing Derby sponsored by the Marshall Schildmeyer VFW Post 6095 (Latonia) on Saturday morning.
It’s free for ages 3 to 15 on E. 47th Street. Registration starts at 9 a.m. Info HERE.

Veterans in Bars Getting Bourbon

The filming of Shows 3 & 4 occurs Sunday afternoon at The Globe restaurant and bar on Fifth Street. It’s sponsored by the N.Ky. Military-Veteran Coalition.
Come watch, listen and learn - and enjoy. Info HERE.
