Music and MMA, painting while drinking

COVINGTON, Ky. - From painting while drinking to drinking (and eating) while walking, Covington is host to a long list of exciting events this weekend for all ages.
 
Throw in a funky art exhibition, mixed martial arts and a dual recycling event, and there’s no need to leave town.
 
Here are some highlights:
 
Come vibe together
 
If you think art is a whole lot more than dusty paintings of fruit by long-dead painters, then head to VIBRANT MINDS COLORFUL LINES, a collaborative art.
 
The show, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday at BLDG (30 W. Pike St.) features multi-disciplinary forms and practices from 2D and 3D works of art to mural painting to performance and social engagement.

Eat. Drink. Paint!
 
Like to paint while you drink, or drink while you paint?
 
Chroma Vino Paint Bar + Gift Shop is a family owned business that combines instructed painting classes with food and beverages.
 
At 6 p.m. Friday, its Paint Bar Team is taking the party to the nearby House of Orange Sports Bar & Grill. Canvas, paint supplies and instruction provided.

Love to Mother Earth
 
Clean your house of unwanted stuff and assuage your guilty conscience at the same time by dropping off old computer and electronics equipment and sensitive papers you’ve been meaning to shred at the dual Electronic Waste and Confidential Paper Shredding Recycling Drop-off Day.
 
It occurs 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Holmes High School.

Covington Farmers Market
 
This weekly event features the best local produce, meats and eggs, soaps and lotions, teas, baked goods, sugar scrubs, nut milks and creamers, and prepared soups and salads, fermented foods, and ... (need we go on?)
 
This Saturday, Covington Farmers Market also features live music plus kids’ activities at the nearby library and Lil’ Kids’ Garden.

There might be blood

Covington plays host Saturday evening to Hardrock MMA 99, the B2 Fighting Series’ version of that unique form of hybrid full-contact combat sport called mixed martial arts.

The event includes five championship fights, with the headliner being Cincinnati-based light heavyweight champ Billy “Mojo” Horne’s defense of his title.

Cincinnati dance band Trailer Park Floosies will bring their lively collection of ’80s, ’90s and modern top 40 rock, pop and country to MainStrasse Village on Friday.
 
The night is called “Trailer Park Floosies Get Weird At The Strasse Haus,” and they probably will.
