The City is currently seeking an Part Time Code Enforcement Officer to join the Department of Development .

  • Salary: $14.61/Hourly 
Summary:
Field enforcement of existing housing and property maintenance and building codes; inspect existing building and structures to determine compliance with the adopted codes and approved plan; determine deficiencies relative to housing/building codes and prepare concise, narrative reports and give testimony at appeals hearings and court actions, re-inspect buildings and structures to determine compliance and correction of deficiencies.  Administer City’s Rental Inspection Program.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs entry-level inspection work.
  • Responsible for learning to conduct inspections of property to determine conformance to applicable property maintenance and development code standards.
  • Issue citations and violation notices to offenders.
  • Assist in keeping rental property database up to date and accurate
  • Develop schedules and timelines to inspect all rental properties within the geographic area they are assigned to.
  • Obtain administrative warrants to enter properties.
  • Assist part-time Enforcement Officers as needed.
  • Provide testimony in court and at Code Board hearings
  • Communicate with staff, residents, and neighborhood groups on the status of property.
  • Issue work orders to DPI for property maintenance.
