Covington Police Department Confirms Arrest of Double Shooting Suspect

COVINGTON, KY – On Monday, August 28, the Covington Police Department issued an update confirming 20 year old Damondre Williams had been arrested for the double shootings that occurred in Covington on August 1, 2017.

On August 1, Covington police officers were dispatched to the 300 block of E. 13th Street in reference to a verbal argument that involved a group of people. As officers responded to the scene, the call was updated to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located two male subjects on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were identified as 25 year old Antonio Bandy and 40 year old Marcus Broadus. Both men were taken to the hospital, where victim Antonio Bandy succumbed to his injuries.

On August 25, the Covington Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for the double shootings.

With the assistance of the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force, United States Marshall Service, FBI Safe Streets Task Force, and the Cincinnati Police Department, Williams was arrested in Cincinnati.

Williams will be charged in Kenton County, Kentucky for the murder of Antonio Bandy and Assault 1st Degree (shooting) of Marcus Broadus.

Currently, Williams is lodged at the Hamilton County Jail awaiting extradition to Kentucky

City Manager David Johnston stated, “We thank everyone who assisted in this arrest and the tireless efforts of the Covington Police Department to ensure justice is served and that our citizens remain safe.

“Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims of the recent shootings.”
