Park Spotlight: Goebel Park

Did you know that Goebel Park is named in honor of the only Covington native to be elected Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, William Goebel? Goebel had been elected governor of Kentucky under a cloud of suspicion and served as the 34th Governor of Kentucky for only four days in 1900 after having been mortally wounded by an assassin the day before he was sworn in. In May 1909, the City of Covington purchased the Goebel property for park purposes. Learn more about Goebel Park's history and amenities by visiting our Parks page.

For additional information on any of the above, contact the Parks & Recreation Department at recreation@covingtonky.gov or 292-2151.
