City Hall closed Monday; MLK Jr. event that night

COVINGTON, Ky. - Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day (on Monday) from the City of Covington.

Note that offices at City Hall at 20 W. Pike St. will be closed Monday but will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

We also invite you to an exciting event Monday evening to celebrate the life and message of Dr. King, the minister and activist who became one of America’s most celebrated civil rights leaders.

One of our favorite (short) quotes from Dr. King comes from his 1963 “Letter from the Birmingham Jail”: We must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right.”

The celebration is a joint event organized by the cities of Covington, Erlanger, Elsmere and Independence. Its theme is empathetic listening, and it will include a video, brief remarks from the four cities’ mayors, keynote remarks from state Sen. Gerald Neal, a panel discussion, and music.
