Land of the Dead, The Rooftop & Baker Hunt

COVINGTON, Ky. - It’s gonna be hot this weekend, as in Aitch. Oh. Tea.

You could stay home and rub ice cubes on your forehead. Or ... you could get out and take in all these fun events in #LoveTheCov that we guarantee will take your mind off your boiling brains and scalded skin.

Blues & boogie woogie - like now
This one starts in less than an hour, so you’ll have to hurry to Behringer-Crawford Museum in Covington’s Devou Park.

Music@BCM tonight features The Heaters, a four-piece group featuring young pianist and vocalist Ben Levin, and their sounds of Chicago blues, boogie woogie, and New Orleans.

Refreshments are available, and the music runs from 7 p.m. to about 9. Oh, and because of the heat, it’s been moved inside. Info, HERE.

Braxton’s big day/night
Braxton Brewing Co. is tapping two barrels of fun in one on Saturday, celebrating not only the Covington brewery’s four-year anniversary but also the opening of The Rooftop - a 5,000-square-foot rooftop bar with great views, a living wall, and 20 taps.

The party will be happening on all three floors at the Taproom and outside.

We’re talking inflatable human foosball, music, a photo booth, giveaways - and of course Braxton’s many flavors.

Info, HERE.

Good times, Good People (Festival)
Music by Harlot, Joe’s Truck Stop, Chelsea Ford & the trouble, and Senora May, among others. Food by Harmony Plant Fare and Eli’s BBQ. A huge group of artisan vendors. Beer by MadTree.

It’s the sixth year of The Good People Festival, a six-hour get-together on Sunday at Baker Hunt Art & Cultural Center.

This one is worth checking out. Info, HERE.

Movie outdoors: Coco
Sure, you could stay home and watch Netflix. But then you’d miss the thrill of watching a movie under the stars with your kids (and really, which experience will they look back on and talk about more when they’re older?)

So grab your blankets, lawn chairs and popcorn (personally, we prefer BBQ potato chips), because on Friday about 9 p.m., Covington Parks & Recreation is hosting an outdoor movie.

“Coco,” the story of a budding musician’s trip to see his long-dead ancestors and get their blessing on his career, is playing at Randolph Park’s baseball field. Info, HERE.

Make it, drink from it
So ... Wooden Cask Brewing Company gives you a coupon for a one-time, half-off pour of the beer of your choosing.

But that’s not the cool part. First you get to make the ceramic beer mug from which you’ll drink it - and, you can make a date out of it.

It’s the Beer Mug Making Class at Baker Hunt Art & Cultural Center, on Friday night.

Pick up trash w/ the puck-masters
Here’s a good time for a good cause with some crazy and dedicated people:
