Recreation Update Summer 2015

With the weather heating up the City’s Recreation Department is entering its busy season. Here is a list of upcoming events and opportunities.

Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp

British Soccer Camps are back with their annual Summer Soccer Camp hosted by Covington Parks and Recreation. Professionally licensed coaches teach footskills, moves, shooting, passing, attacking, combo play, and defending, giving kids the opportunity to have a fun experience while learning a sport they love.

Annual Fishing Derby

A free children’s fishing derby for youth ages 5 to 15.  Bring your own pole and bait.  Stay around after the derby for a free grill out lunch for the entire family.  Prizes will be awarded during lunch.  For additional information of if you have any questions please call or email us at 859-292-2151 or afroelicher@covingtonky.gov. Registration is on the day of the event from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Fishing is from 10:00 – 12:00 p.m.

Pools Opening Day is Set!

Goebel, Randolph, and the Waterpark at the Cappel Complex will be opening on June 6th.  The pools will be open 7 days a week from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  We are looking forward to keeping you cool for another season. Pool passes will be available at City Hall starting May 26th.  We will be issuing pool passes from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Passes will also be available at the pools June 6th through June 14th.

Pool passes are needed to access City pools and are free for Covington residents. Residents will need to provide proof of residency with a valid driver's license or State ID.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and will be required to complete and sign their own form. Parents and grandparents may get a pool pass for any children or grandchildren under the age of 18.
