Holiday Events Encourage Shopping Downtown

COVINGTON, KY – Renaissance Covington, the non-profit focused on revitalizing downtown, is hosting two exciting Shop Local events this holiday season, providing plenty of opportunity for residents to purchase locally made gifts and holiday items all within the downtown district.

Beginning on November 29, the ‘801 Holiday Pop-Up Market’ will be open until December 20, at 801 Madison Avenue. Both events offer an array of locally made products and retail goods sold by local vendors while presenting a friendly holiday atmosphere in downtown Covington.

The 801 Holiday Pop-Up will hosts its Grand Opening with five unique retailers. The pop-up shops will be located at 801 Madison Avenue and will be open from Saturday November 29 until Saturday December 20. A list of participating businesses include: Northern Kentucky Incubator Kitchen, Grainwell/Olivia Lane, Purple Potion, and Pistons & Polish. Pandemonium, an art gallery cooperative and The Toy Library will also be participating.

The Grand Opening will feature vendors from the Covington Farmers Market and live music. It is scheduled the same day as Shop Small Saturday, a day when people across the country are organizing events to celebrate the small businesses in their communities. Many downtown retailers will be celebrating this day as well, with free giveaways from American Express. Blend at 14 E 5th St. will be hosting a Shop Small Pancake Breakfast from 8am until noon.

Renaissance Manager Katie Meyer said, “The retail opportunities in Covington get better and better each year. We can’t wait to host these events and welcome everyone to shop local with us, explore downtown and enjoy time with friends.”
